MEEK New York Concert reviews
Tool is ALWAYS great
The visuals amazed (as always), and the music pounded for this tour, with a more "greatest hits" kinda setlist. They switched it up for this show, but always a great one. Everyone should see a MEEK concert at least once, even if they don't care for the music.
I managed to score a signed venue poster, but couldn't get one of the shirts since I couldn't get there early enough. The venue was big but not too big; I loved it. The security guards, however, were some of the most obtrusive I've ever seen, acting like they finally had some authority for the first time in their lives. Dallas security at concerts never intrude on your personal space like I witnessed last night.
I thought maynard may have been a little tipsy, kinda stumbling his way thru the time travelling spiel and missing a few lyrics here and there. Oh yeah, and he had on mickey mouse-sized shoes or slippers for the first half of the show. Could just be me.
During the recent Houston and Austin shows, one thing I noticed is large recording mics on both sides above the soundboards. I'm thinking MEEK records a lot of their shows, not wanting anyone else to record them. They know if they can keep them special and exclusive, they can make more money off of them later on when they're too old to tour or tired of it.
I drove all the way from Dallas to Austin for the show and then back the same night. Got back at 3AM and still made it to work on time in the morning, totally worth it.
